US Captain sires impressive 2yo winner

 US Captain continues to deliver at stud in North America, from very limited numbers, as he records his second individual winner.

Hawaiian Warfare is one of only four two-year-olds sired by US Captain in North America and delivered an impressive win at just his second start when successful at Harrah's Philadelphia this weekend.

Trained by Erin Neilson, Hawaiian Warfare had been impressive at the trials and transitioned to race day form with maturity and ease. Settling third and being allowed to find his stride early by driver Mike Cole, Hawaiian Warfare then showed explosive speed and a clean gait to advance to the lead in the middle stages. 

While his older rivals started to struggle on the home turn, the son of US Captain was able to clear out to win easily, eased down over the final stages to win in 1.54.3, his last quarter in 28.3.

Whilst still racing, US Captain served a limited number of mares, and has just three three-year-olds, including winner Send Me Ten (two wins to date) and US Heir who is currently racing in America. 

Of his four two-year-olds, he now has one winner in Hawaiian Warfare, US Reveille who has raced with promise, and one other two have trialed to date. A truly remarkable feat from such small crops. 

Trainer Erin Neilson has been extremely impressed by both of her US Captain sired stable members, Hawaiian Warfare and US Reveille. 

"Hawaiian Warfare was huge this weekend, he went super," Erin said.

"He has talent, and a great mindset, he's a real pleasure to be around both on and off the track."

"He will just do anything you ask of him and is really laid back. I adore him, he's a sweetheart." 

"The filly (US Reveille) went super as well. She went 1.55 and cam home in 28.1 for her first lifetime start. That was just her first start so she should benefit from some more racing and race day experience."

"They should both do really well in their Delaware Stakes races this fall. I am excited about them both, they have a lot of talent and want to do it."

Delaware Stakes start in late September, and both horses will have more race day experience before a short freshener to prepare them for their feature assignments.
