First New Zealand US Captain foal is here!

Anticipation has been high at Wai Eyre Farm as we eagerly awaited the arrival of the very first foals by US Captain in New Zealand.

Earlier this week we were thrilled to welcome a cracking colt out of one of Wai Eyre Farm’s own mares.

We are absolutely delighted with him, and while we know the best time to photograph a new foal is at three days old, we simply could not wait to share this colt with everyone.

These photos were taken at just a few hours old when he was still unfolding, and on his second day.

US Captain is one hundred percent New Zealand owned, in partnership with Wai Eyre Farm and Macca Lodge.

After serving 94 mares in New Zealand last year we are very excited to see more of US Captain’s foals arriving this breeding season.

He continues to do an outstanding job in the United States from limited numbers, serving mares whilst still racing.

All seven of his foals in the States have either raced or qualified, with two winners to date including the exceptional Hawaiian Warfare (5 starts, 4 wins, 1 third), who is heading to the Delaware Sires Stakes in two weeks.
