We were thrilled to welcome over 200 guests to our Stallion Open Day on Saturday at Wai Eyre Farm.

Held in partnership with Yabby Dam Farms, the stallion parade meant breeders were able to view many of our stallions for the first time in the flesh, and in perfect weather conditions.

All stallions were presented in amazing condition, a credit to our staff on farm, and put their best foot forward as each was introduced individually to those in attendance.

And once the stallions were paraded the bookings came flooding in, with breeders extremely impressed with their parades and the roster on offer.

In more good news, Pat Driscoll of Yabby Dam Farms announced on the day that the early booking discount of 20 percent on fresh stallions Classic Connection, On A Streak and Enchauffour would stay in place for the season.

It’s wonderful news for trotting breeders looking for outstanding value and the best international bloodlines, and also be eligible for the newly announced $75,000 Yabby Dam Farms Trotters Classic in 2030.

US Captain was paraded for the first time to the public. The son of World Champions Captaintreacherous and American Jewel is one hundred percent NZ owned between Wai Eyre Farm and Macca Lodge.

He impressed breeders with his wonderful conformation, temperament and presence and breeders were quick to secure bookings to him following his parade.

Lazarus once again stole the show with his laid back attitude. The Champion is in fantastic condition and has really settled into his life at Wai Eyre Farm brilliantly.

He’s continued to have an outstanding season at stud, with just 15 five-year-olds in New Zealand, and no four-year-olds, all 15 have raced or qualified and two are nominated for the New Zealand Trotting Cup (The Lazarus Effect and Jeremiah).

A promising juvenile on the track before injury brought his racing career to an end, the son of Dream Vacation had another winner over the weekend, when Farrah was successful at Oamaru.

Breeders were very keen to inspect him as he continues to deliver great results from small crops to date.

Breeders were also impressed by the Yabby Dam Farms fresh line up, which included current leading two-year-old sire On A Streak, European Group race winner and Group winning sire, Classic Connection, and Australian Breeders Crown winner, Enchauffour.

It was a great opportunity to see the new arrivals to the farm, and breeders were also quick to book their mare after seeing them up close and in action.

A huge thanks as well to Robert Famularo and our friends at Dancingonmoonlight Farm, who provided hospitality at their farm following the parade.

Many keen golfers were able to enjoy the private nine-hole golf course, and guests were also able to view legendary pacers Christian Cullen, Monkey King and Baileys Dream in their retirement.

Nigel and Brenda Armstrong worked tirelessly throughout the day supporting us, filming social media content and also manned the Harness Racing Unhinged BBQ at Dancingonmoonlight.

Nigel has been a great support to Wai Eyre Farm and Yabby Dam Farms this season, assisting with coverage of the open day and producing live videos and interviews of the parade. Nigel covers over 100 race meetings every year, all for the love of the sport.

To thank him for all he does for the industry, Yabby Dam Farms presented him with the choice of any of their fresh semen stallions, and Wai Eyre Farm will cover all of the related breeding costs.

We recognise the huge effort he and Brenda put into making sure the sport continues to be seen and our stories continue to be told.

The day was a huge success, and we thank everyone who supported us and attended.

We must also thank our hardworking staff, who ensured everything ran smoothly both at the open day and on the farm as foals continued to arrive.

Thank you to the industry for your continued support of Wai Eyre Farm, please do talk to us about a breeding package to help you reach your goals this breeding season.
