Yabby Dam Farms are thrilled to announce plans to run a $75,000 2YO Trotters Race in Canterbury during the Spring of 2030 – and have also announced an early booking discount for their New Zealand based stallions.
Following suit of similar races on offer in Australia, The Yabby Dam Farms 2YO Trotters Classic will be open to fillies, colts and geldings by Yabby Dam Farm stallions produced from this season’s 2026 coverings.
This will include Yabby Dam Farm stallions currently standing at Wai Eyre Farm in partnership with Yabby Dam Farms – Classic Connection, On A Streak and Enchauffour (a son of Volstead, new in 2026).
Yabby Dam Farms have previously announced they will run two $75,000 Yabby Dam Farms 2YO Classic Finals to be held in Victoria. These races will also commence in 2030.
The race is a way for Yabby Dam Farms and Wai Eyre Farm to support their customers and offer a new and exciting incentive.
“I am extremely passionate about the sport and want to provide a race for owners, breeders and trainers to aspire to win. A race that can become a genuine target on the calendar,” says Yabby Dam Farms owner, Pat Driscoll.
“We have a very attractive and varied array of stallions for breeders to choose from. From one end of the YDF stallion roster to the other, there is a great chance of producing progeny capable of contending a future Classic final.”
Wai Eyre Farm is thrilled to support Yabby Dam and their goal of offering breeders in Australasia the best international bloodlines at an affordable price.
“This is another example of how new thinking and concepts can help the racing industry,” said Darryl Brown of Wai Eyre Farm.
“We are thrilled to be working again with Yabby Dam Farms, and sharing Pat’s vision to help breeders breed to the very best bloodlines and have every opportunity for success in the future.”
“We are dedicated to helping breeders achieve their goals, and being able to work with Yabby Dam Farms and support new ideas and concepts complements the mission and values we have at Wai Eyre Farm.”
The partnership between the two farms has strengthened again this season, with two new stallions arriving at Wai Eyre Farm from Australia for stud duties.
By legendary sire Love You, Classic Connection was a phenomenal racehorse on the track. He is a European Group One winner, winning 11 races during his career, including the Group 1 German Breeders Crown, and five Group 2 and 3 events in France.
His dam, Crys Dream, was the USA 2YO Trotting Filly of the Year and one of the standout mares of her generation. His pedigree is stacked with excellence.
Classic Connection currently at stud has 45% winners to foals for his first crop (10 winners from 22 live foals), 71% winners to starters from this oldest crop which are now three-year-olds. He has had four individual two-year-old winners this season.
In New Zealand from just three starters to date he has produced I’m Connected to win on debut as a three-year-old at Addington.

Enchauffour is an exciting addition to the Yabby Dam Farm roster, as the only son of Volstead to stand at stud in Australasia.
His dam, Dream Island, belongs to one of France’s most outstanding maternal families. She is out of a daughter of Island Dream, who won eight times at Group level, and left a number of elite winners including Italian Derby winner, Infinitif – a leading international sire and sire of Ecurie D.
The combination of in demand North American blood through Volstead, and the impressive French maternal line makes Enchaffour an attractive and impressive proposition at stud, encapsulating the very best international credentials.
A former 2YO Breeders Crown winner, Enchauffour offers brilliant juvenile racing form, and the best of both French and American pedigrees to breeders in New Zealand. He will stand his first season at stud in 2026.

They join O’Brien 2YO of the Year and 2YO Breeders Crown winner, On A Streak, at Wai Eyre Farm.
He’s had an outstanding start to his stud career, with his oldest progeny now two-years-old, On A Streak is the sire of four individual winners in Australia, included undefeated filly and Listed winner, Bumper Crop (3 starts, 3 wins).
In New Zealand On A Streak has had one to race, La Venture, who has had two starts for two seconds – including one at Group level.
