Carlton sires another maiden winner
Carlton continues to deliver at stud with small crops when he produced Farrah to win at Oamaru on Sunday.
The three-year-old filly is trained by Greg and Ben Hope, and was having just her third career start.
After stepping well from the standing start, driver Ben Hope slotted Farrah three back on the fence for the majority of the 2600m event.
With 600m to go, Ben was able to extract the filly out into the one-one position and upon entering the home straight she was able to unleash a potent and sustained run, albeit held together, to finish over the top of the favourite King Charles.
Mithali (also by Carlton) produced another gallant effort to finish into third position.
Farrah is out of The Earth Moved, by Monarchy, making her a full-sister to Luca and a half-sister to Mr Love, Freya, Torvi and Crazy N Love.
From just seven starters Carlton now has five individual winners to date, including Carla Pixie (7 wins), Luca (3 wins), Just For Today (2 wins), Brooks Spirit (1 win) and now Farrah.
He offers wonderful value and stands for just $1,000 plus GST, with working fee included if mares are served at Wai Eyre Farm. A collection fee does apply for Carlton.
