The $110,000 DBSF Champion at Harrington Raceway was starting in the first round of divisions for the Breeders Fund Stakes at Dover and ensured he let the opposition know he was ready for another big series.

The $20,000 heat for two-year-old male pacers saw Hawaiian Warfare start a hot favourite.

Drawing three from the mobile, regular driver Mike Cole asked the son of US Captain to show strong early speed and drove him assertively to the front.

After initially working hard to cross, Cole ensured Hawaiian Warfare remained on task in front and kept the tempo solid throughout.

Approaching the home turn Cole then asked Hawaiian Warfare to extend again, as they cruised clear in the home straight to win easily by three lengths in 1.53.2.

“I didn’t want him to coach to the wire again this week,” Mike told Wai Eyre Farm.

“So I talked to him a bit and let him know it was time to go, he was impressive. The other divisions went a second slower than him.”

The win took his career record to 9 starts, 8 wins and 1 third for $150,146 in stakes.

Hawaiian Warfare will compete in another division of heats next week, with the $110,000 final the week following.

He is trained by Erin Neilson, and owned by his breeder Forrest Bartlett and is out of a Stay Hungry mare.

US Captain has just seven foals in the United States, served while he was still racing.

All seven have raced or qualified, with two individual winners to date. Sunday Suppers and US Reveille also recorded placings this week at Dover Downs.

His foals in New Zealand continue to impress breeders, leaving correct types very much in the cast of their sire.

US Captain stands at Wai Eyre Farm in partnership with Macca Lodge for a service fee of $3,000 plus GST. Mares served at either Wai Eyre Farm or Macca Lodge will have the working fee included in the service fee.

He is available to Australian breeders chilled for $3,300 including GST.
