Wai Eyre Farm is proud to once again sponsor the running of this Friday's Lazarus Stakes at Addington Raceway.
The feature for three-year-old pacers has once again attracted a stand out field, fitting to the race named after such a legendary pacer.
As a three-year-old Lazarus swept all before him, winning the New Zealand Derby, the Northern Derby and the Victoria Derby and went undefeated in nine starts that season in New Zealand and Australia.
His remarkable career would go on to see him win 37 of his 51 career starts, including two New Zealand Trotting Cups, an Interdominion Grand Final, a Victoria Cup, AG Hunter Cup, the Chariots of Fire and then in America the Dan Patch Stakes and Hoosier Park Pacing Derby.
Lazarus was truly a worldwide wonder, earning 4.4 million in stakes. Now his progeny seek to emulate his greatness, with his five-year-old son The Lazarus Effect already guaranteed a start in the New Zealand Trotting Cup this November.
