Yearling preparers, breeders and buyers are in for a big two weeks as we count down to the New Zealand Bloodstock Yearling Sales, this year to be held at Karaka on Monday 16 February and the Canterbury Agricultural Park on Wednesday 18 February.

We are proud of the Wai Eyre stallion offerings and are as always grateful to those who support them.

We will highlight some of those up for auction as we build into the biggest week on the standardbred sales calendar in New Zealand.

Lot 103 at Karaka is the sole offering by On A Streak at this year’s yearling sales.

A half sister to four Group race winners, she is prepared by Jamie Bartlett, of JB Bloodstock in Patamahoe, on behalf of Yabby Dam Farms.

Her dam Glenferrie Unixa was lightly raced, placing three times from just five career starts.

As a broodmare she has produced four winners from four starters, all four have won at Group level.

Une Belle Allure (Angus Hall), a Group One winner of the Need For Speed Princess Final for three-year-old fillies. Une Belle Allure had a wonderful career on the racetrack, amassing eight wins and seven placings from just 25 starts.

Glenferrie Unixa has also left Beau Garcon (Orlando Vici), a winner at Group Three level and had 11 wins in total in his career – and Hilltop Hugh (What The Hill), who to date has won five of his seven career starts including the Group One Vicbred Super Series last November.

Tradie Lady (Trixton) has also won at Group Three level, winning the Breeders Crown Silver as a two-year-old. She won three of her ten races

This filly presents rich French bloodlines through her first dam and second dam, Life Sign, a winner in France, and her third dam France Vie the producer of nine race winner Mister President.

To go along with her proven pedigree of success, the filly has shown great signs during the preparation process, and has made a great impression with Jamie Bartlett.

“She’s a filly I keep coming back to, so is so long through the body with plenty of quality and scope and quality about her,” said Jamie.

“She’s carried herself like a professional from day one.”

“She’s got a great attitude and just gets on with things, making her an absolute pleasure to have around the barn throughout the preparation.”

She has also continued to develop as the process has continued, and shows great signs of how she will continue to mature into a racehorse.

“Physically she’s continued to improve every week, strengthening and developing into an eye-catching horse,” Jamie said.

“She has a lovely long walk and really uses herself well, cover the ground with ease and showing the sort of athleticism you want to see.”

Jamie is hopeful that others will see these qualities in the filly as inspections continue ahead of next Monday’s sale.

“She’s definitely one of my picks and I’d expect she’ll catch plenty of attention. She has that mix of temperament, scope and presence that buyers are always drawn to, and I’m sure others will feel the same way when they see her up close.”

On A Streak’s oldest progeny in Australasia are two-year-olds this season.

His progeny have received great reviews from trainers during the breaking in process, showing a great working attitude and wonderful gaits.

This filly presents a wonderful opportunity for those not only wanting a proven Group race winning pedigree, but a great future investment as a broodmare.
